Responsibilities

  • Develop best practices to improve equipment capacity, quality, and reliability.
  • Repair, adjust, and maintain production equipment, machinery, or instruments in cooperation with internal and external staff to ensure reliable function and compliance with process specifications.
  • Coordinate activities (PM’s, TPM, problem solving) of third-party contractors, vendors, or suppliers related to maintenance.
  • Investigate problems, analyze root causes, and derive resolutions using the 8D Problem Solving Process to ensure sustainable quality products.
  • Support development of operational strategies to achieve energy and financial objectives.
  • Monitor expenses and profitability.
  • Support equipment uptime, MTTR, MTBF, and OEE by relying on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Evaluate current production activities and drive improvements.
  • Ensure highly technical equipment meets required specifications and high-quality standards.
  • Implement cost-reduction initiatives while maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Contribute to product and process quality design testing methods.
  • Develop planning standards, methods, and procedures to maintain robust PM, TPM processes, as well as robust containments and countermeasures for equipment downtime.
  • Stay current with product specifications, engineering technology, and production processes.
  • Propose and manage small-scale projects from beginning to end, collaborating with other departments to prepare scope of work including project requirements, milestones, deliverables, and reports expected from external providers.
  • Take an active role in the implementation of new equipment.
  • Drive the implementation of continuous improvement processes for efficiency to create a Lean Manufacturing environment.
  • Participate in regularly scheduled team meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or other relevant degree required.
  • 3+ years of relevant experience, strongly preferring an automotive environment.

Skills

  • PLC experience (e.g., OMRON, Allen-Bradley, Siemens).
  • 3D-CAD experience (e.g., SolidWorks, Catia, Siemens NX).
  • Hands-on experience with pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, and computer-controlled systems.
  • Hands-on experience with process devices such as motor drives, sensors, AC/DC converters, lifts, conveyors, etc.
  • Experience with paint applications (chemicals, sprays, filtration, pumps, degreaser, hydrocyclones, rectifier process, anodes, anolyte systems, ultra-filtration, DI-water, industrial paint oven curing).
  • Experience with joining technologies, clinching, gluing, and fluid technology.
  • SAP/PLM experience.
  • Hands-on programming experience in booth or work cell.
  • Hands-on experience in offline simulations.
  • Experience with project management and equipment installation.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing methods/procedures and process technology.
  • Ability to evaluate alternative solutions and support decision-making processes.
  • Proven written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to anticipate needs and deliver timely, relevant solutions and actions.
  • Proven design and implementation of Continuous Improvement themes with savings.
  • Experience in process layout and optimization incorporating asset utilization (a plus).
  • Ability to troubleshoot, instruct repair techniques, and assist in root cause analysis in stressful situations.
  • Ability to read and create blueprints and schematics.
