Maintenance Engineer
About the role
A Maintenance Engineer at Los Alamos Medical Center plays a crucial role in ensuring the facility's operational efficiency and safety. This position involves performing a variety of tasks including preventive and corrective maintenance, installation, testing, and repair of various equipment and systems.
Responsibilities
- Performs preventive and corrective maintenance of equipment, systems and structures throughout the facility.
- Installs, tests, maintains, operates and repairs machinery, equipment, and systems as scheduled or needed.
- Performs major and minor maintenance work.
- Performs utility and structural repairs as needed, alone or in collaboration with internal/external tradespersons.
- Assists with inspection, testing, and maintenance of all fire risers, sprinklers, extinguishers, fire doors and other fire/safety-related equipment and systems.
- Performs preventative maintenance procedures on equipment, building systems, and utility systems as assigned.
- Moves items within/between locations and from/to storage.
- Assembles and relocates furniture.
- Performs other job duties as assigned.
Requirements
Two years' institutional/commercial maintenance experience is required. Basic knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, HVAC, electrical, and/or electronic systems is also required.

- Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
- Demonstrates proficiency in verbal and written communication skills.

Schedule
The Maintenance Engineer position is full-time, Monday-Friday, 6:30 AM-3:00 PM or 8:00 AM-4:30 PM, with a rotating on-call schedule every 4 weeks.
