Requirements
Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in engineering from a four-year college or university, or four to six years of related experience with a high school diploma or G.E.D., or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Specialist-Specific Knowledge
Electrical Specialist
- Working knowledge of DCS (Distributed Control Systems), including PLC program refinement, maintenance, and troubleshooting
- Working knowledge of electrical power systems and circuitry
- Working knowledge of CNC control systems
Mechanical Specialist
- Working knowledge of general design and maintenance of mechanical components and systems
- Working knowledge of general design and maintenance of hydraulics and pneumatic systems
For both Mechanical and Electrical positions, HPDC machine and CNC machine maintenance experience is preferred.
Skills
Language Skills
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
Mathematical Skills
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume
- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
Reasoning Ability
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
Physical Demands
- Regularly required to talk or hear
- Frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms
- Occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
Work Environment
- Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts
- Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, high or precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme heat, and risk of electrical shock
- Noise level in the work environment is usually loud
