Maintenance Electrician (Manufacturing Facilities)

About the Role

Under the general direction of the facilities manager, this position is responsible for the installation and repair of electrical systems, apparatus, and electrical and electronic components of industrial machinery and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Installs power supply wiring and conduit for newly installed machines and equipment such as robots, conveyors, and programmable controllers.
• Connects power supply wires to machines and equipment, and connects cables and wires between machines and equipment.
• Diagnoses malfunctioning apparatus such as transformers, motors, and lighting fixtures and replaces damaged or broken wires and cables.
• Tests malfunctioning machinery and discusses malfunction with other maintenance workers to diagnose issues.
• Replaces faulty electrical components of machines such as relays, switches, and motors, and positions sensing devices.
• Diagnoses and repairs or replaces faulty electronic components, such as printed circuit boards.
• Replaces electric motor bearings and rewires motors.
• Programs automated machinery, such as robots, using robot controllers, teach pendants, and programmable controllers to test for malfunctions and verify repairs.
• Plans layout of wiring and installs wiring, conduit, and electrical apparatus in buildings.
• Diagnoses and replaces faulty mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components of machines and equipment.
• Proactively identifies opportunities for process improvement in efficiency, safety, quality, production, and cost savings.
• Maintains and promotes a clean, FOD-free, and organized work area.
• Verifies and maintains accuracy of applicable documents for completeness.
• Adheres to all company policies, safety policies, and procedures, including proper use of PPE, safe lifting techniques, and building security.
• Attends all scheduled meetings and trainings.

Requirements

• Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear.
• Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Close vision and ability to adjust focus.
• Professional and tactful approach when interacting with co-workers, customers, and clients.
• Effective communication via spoken and written means, including one-on-one and group settings.
• Ability to accurately interpret and follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team and adapt to changing situations.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to apply common-sense reasoning.
• Proficiency in utilizing applicable computer software programs.
