Maintenance Electrician

Responsibilities

  • Install, repair and maintain all electrical systems.
  • Troubleshoot, locate and correct power failures, short circuits, and other electrical malfunctions.
  • Install open and concealed wiring and lighting fixtures.
  • Perform emergency repairs to elevators, generators and other types of electrical devices and instruments.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on a variety of electrical devices, instruments, appliances and equipment.
  • Prepare labor and material cost estimates and maintain records.
  • Perform a variety of non-electrical maintenance and repair tasks as required.

Requirements

  • Considerable knowledge of the methods, materials and equipment used in the electrician's trade.
  • Knowledge of electrical codes and standards related to electrical work.
  • Skill in the care and use of electrician's tools and equipment.
  • Ability to install, alter, repair, maintain and troubleshoot a variety of electrical devices, instruments, appliances and equipment.
  • Ability to interpret and work from technical sketches, blueprints and CAD drawings.

Qualifications

  • Completion of vocational school training, and four years of satisfactory experience in the electrical trades, or six years of satisfactory experience in the electrical trades.
  • Licensed electrician preferred.
  • Valid NY State driver's license.
