About the role
The Maintenance E&I position at Phlow Corporation's Petersburg, VA manufacturing plant is seeking an experienced individual to ensure production equipment safety, quality, and performance. The role involves hands-on equipment repairs, addressing emergencies, and driving process improvements.
Responsibilities
- Resolve emergency equipment breakdowns and complete routine repair work.
- Complete scheduled equipment servicing/inspections and GMP documentation.
- Collaborate with operations to achieve production timelines.
- Aid in process improvements across departments.
- May require certification for PAPR or respirators.
- Perform calibrations on process and analytical instrumentation.
- Develop and improve maintenance procedures.
- Install, maintain, repair, overhaul, calibrate, and test industrial instrumentation.
- Document maintenance actions and record materials and parts consumption.
- Apply continuous improvement programs like root cause analysis and waste elimination.
- Operate or commission new machinery according to manufacturer manuals.
Requirements
- Working Shift hours with flexibility to shifts.
- On-site during all working hours.
- Possibility of being "on call" outside of regular hours.
- Hands-on work resolving equipment failures, performing maintenance, and assisting with process improvements.
- Good documentation skills.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.

- Familiarity with appropriate tools for tasks.
- Proficiency with Microsoft applications.
- Experience with PLC programming, HMI interfaces, and DCS.

Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 5 years of experience in manufacturing as an Industrial E&I.
- Good documentation skills.
- Hands-on repair skills.
- Team player with diverse background.
- Professionalism, communication, flexibility, self-motivation, and decision-making ability.
- Ability to read and understand electrical line diagrams, P&IDs, and manufacturer manuals.
- Safe and clean work habits.
- Knowledge of tools and their correct usage.
- Proficiency with electrical metering and reading devices.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in Pharmaceutical, Food, or Chemical Industries.
- GMP experience.
- Other trade skills/licenses/experience (HVAC, pipefitting, welding, machinist, construction, etc.).
- Experience editing existing schematics (red lining).
- Experience with PLC programming, onboard HMIs, VFD interfaces, and digital control systems (DCS).
Working Conditions
- Exposure to chemical materials and high noise areas.
- Must have a high consciousness for personnel and equipment safety.
- May require use of various personal protective equipment (PPE) including respirators, gloves, safety glasses, and protective clothing.
Physical Requirements
- Frequent reaching, bending, twisting, turning, and climbing.
- Ability to walk, stand, and climb stairs for extended periods.
- Work in various positions such as walking, standing, or sitting for prolonged durations.
- Access to confined spaces as needed.
- Chemical exposure to cleaners, oil, grease.
- Near and far visual acuity, including color vision and depth perception.
- Indoor factory conditions and outdoor environments with varying temperatures.
- Frequent physical activities such as climbing scaffolding/ladders, working at heights, confined space entry, standing or walking for extended durations, and lifting up to 50 lbs routinely.
