About the role

The Parts Clerk is responsible for receiving materials and parts into the facility, maintaining accurate inventory records, and dispensing parts and materials to other workers. This role involves transacting materials into the company database, recording parts usage, and ensuring adequate inventory levels.

Responsibilities

  • Routinely inspect parts and equipment for inventory levels and maintain records to identify when parts need to be ordered based on established minimum/maximum inventory levels.
  • Maintain adequate inventory of equipment parts by receiving, storing, and issuing spare and replacement parts, equipment, and expendable items used in maintenance.
  • Organize and sort parts according to the established inventory system.
  • Report concerns or problems to the maintenance supervisor/lead.
  • Determine if part reorder is necessary as parts are pulled for use and note it on a “Parts Request Form.”
  • Seek cost-saving opportunities in parts procurement.
  • Communicate parts purchase and inventory status with the Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Assist in inputting data into the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Keep equipment and building system manuals and documentation organized and up to date.
  • Assist the Maintenance Team in keeping the shop clean and organized.
  • Maintain a clean and organized parts room and mezzanine.
  • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and company safety programs.
  • Wear appropriate personal safety equipment at all times, including bump caps, steel-toe boots, hair nets, clean frocks, and vinyl gloves as needed.
  • Ensure tools and equipment are kept clean and safety devices are never bypassed.
  • Backup for other clerk(s) as needed.
  • Good attendance is required; must be available to work overtime and weekends as needed.

Requirements

  • High school education or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Familiarity with word processing software and moderate experience with Excel spreadsheets.
  • Good basic math and computer skills for stockroom/warehouse work.
  • Basic mechanical knowledge (tools/parts names and usage).
  • Strong attention to detail when working with inventory.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to speak and comprehend English; bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision and be a motivated self-starter.

Physical Demands

  • Frequent standing, walking, and use of hands to handle or feel.
  • Regularly required to reach with hands and arms.
  • Occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Exposure to wet/humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, and extreme cold (below 40°F, including freezers).
  • Moderate noise level in the work environment.
