Summary of Role

The Maintenance Buyer is responsible for sourcing and acquiring parts/tools, tracking all indirect spend vs budget data for the Milton site, ensuring suppliers are delivering parts in the timeline they commit to ensuring the Maintenance Groups ability to respond to failures. The Maintenance Buyer role will maintain accuracy of inventory in the Milton Husky Facility. The job requires to be able to provide hands on support when needed.

Hours & Pay

  • Monday – Friday 7:00AM – 3:30PM
  • Salary Range: $32 - $36 per hour

Key Responsibilities

  • Source parts to ensure the best quality, availability and cost.
  • Spend: maintain Maintenance cost metrics, top 10 spend, PO list. Facilitate cost meetings with management
  • Source and order tools for the Maintenance Technicians
  • Monitor delivery time of orders and vendor performance
  • Reconciling all discrepancies on orders to guarantee accurate order delivery
  • Working in accordance with Non-Production Spend to adjust purchase orders to meet inventory demands necessary for production
  • Assisting departments in initiating requisitions and orders, and solving problems with orders
  • Analyzing indirect spending on a regular basis to identify and execute additional opportunities for potential cost savings
  • Monitors and communications with the maintenance leadership team on any changes to shipping, overages, shortages or any other order changes
  • Compiling requests for quotation/proposal packages
  • Communicating frequently with suppliers to ensure optimized performance levels, delivery and product quality
  • Initiating NDA's and vendor requests with suppliers
  • Meeting with suppliers occasionally
  • Place orders for indirect materials by converting purchase requisitions into purchase orders in a timely manner
  • Analyze, recommend and manage data requirements for accurate and timely decision support for the Maintenance group
  • Monitor and participate in ensuring all Key Performance Indicators (Safety, Quality and Productivity) are being achieved as related to our Maintenance Team effectiveness.
  • Receiving/ Inventorying parts and providing material handling needs for the Maintenance Team.
  • Create and complete work orders and enter data into CMMS
  • Develop and refine existing work processes/procedures for this role.
  • Support Kaizen and 5S events to ensure continuous improvement and growth
  • Support EH&S initiatives throughout the facility, ensuring safety, housekeeping and quality standards are maintained.

Qualifications

  • 1-2 years' experience in Material Handling.
  • 3-5 years' experience in purchasing
  • 2-5 years' experience with inventory control and management.
  • Equipment maintenance knowledge an asset.
  • ERP or CMMS experience an asset.
  • Working knowledge of Excel
  • Ability to support in the implementation of new software solutions for the inventory of parts
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
  • A versatile learner, receptive to change and able to pick up new technical knowledge quickly.

  • High School Diploma
