About the role

This position is responsible for performing minor and miscellaneous maintenance, repair, and upkeep on assigned facility and property systems to include building systems, grounds maintenance, equipment and furniture maintenance, and janitorial maintenance. Will be assigned tasks such as moving and assembling furniture and equipment, painting, performing janitorial and cleaning tasks both indoors and out, minor plumbing and lighting repairs, and other such duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Performs detailed cleaning of the drive-up areas to also include the garbage enclosures, front entrances of buildings, and all exterior areas.
  • Supports grounds maintenance services by weeding, trimming, sweeping of sidewalks and gutters, trash and litter pick up, snow removal, ice melt application, etc.
  • Performs minor building and furniture modifications or repairs involving carpentry, painting, lighting, plumbing, and general building upkeep.
  • Assists Credit Union personnel and vendors as needed and according to guidelines.
  • Keeps supervisor informed of area activities and any significant problems or maintenance concerns.
  • Attends and participates in meetings as required.
  • Completes required records and reports.
  • Utilizes basic computer programs to communicate and fulfill position requirements.
  • Assumes responsibility for related duties as required or assigned.
  • Performs miscellaneous and specially requested tasks.
  • Makes recommendations to ensure the safe, clean, attractive, and reliable function of Credit Union facilities management.

Requirements

  • High school graduate, or equivalent combination of experience or training.
  • Driver’s License. Bondable.
  • Some experience in building maintenance or construction preferred.

Skills

  • Basic understanding of janitorial equipment and procedures.
  • Basic understanding of building and property maintenance.
  • Basic knowledge of sprinkler irrigation and minor building systems repair.
  • Above average mechanical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Well organized and able to work well independently.
  • Able to coordinate well with others and professionally assist members and staff as needed.
  • Attentive to detail and average communication skills.
  • An ability to operate a variety of hand and power tools, outdoor equipment, etc.
  • Basic computer skills.

Qualifications

  • Education: High school graduate, or equivalent combination of experience or training.
  • Driver’s License. Bondable.
  • Preference for some experience in building maintenance or construction.

Physical Activities and Requirements

  • Climbing: Includes ladders, scaffolding, ramps, etc.
  • Stooping: Bending downward and forward at the waist.
  • Kneeling: Resting on knee or knees.
  • Crouching: Bending downward and forward at the leg and spine.
  • Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
  • Pushing: Using upper body to press against something with steady force.
  • Pulling: Using upper body to draw, drag, haul, or tug objects.
  • Lifting: Occurs frequently and requires substantial use of upper body and back muscles.
  • Finger dexterity: Using primarily just the fingers to make small movements such as typing, picking up small objects, or pinching fingers together.
  • Grasping: Using fingers and palm on an object.
  • Talking: One must frequently convey detailed or important instructions or ideas accurately, loudly, or quickly.
  • Average hearing: Able to hear average or normal conversations.
  • Repetitive motion: Movements frequently and regularly required using the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
  • Average visual abilities: Average, ordinary, visual acuity necessary to prepare or inspect documents or products or operate machinery.
  • Physical strength: Medium work; exerting up to 75 lbs. occasionally, and/or up to 30 lbs. frequently, and 15 lbs. constantly.
  • Working conditions: Subject to changing inside and/or outside temperatures which may include extreme heat (temperatures above 100 degrees) or extreme cold (temperatures below 32 degrees).
  • Works both inside and outside. Subject to weather. May work under hazardous conditions including high places, chemical exposures, electrical current, moving machinery, potential exposure to bodily fluids, etc.
  • Frequent local travel.
  • Mental activities and requirements: Reasoning ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple and uninvolved instructions and to deal with problems involving few variables. Mathematics ability: Ability to perform basic math skills including adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing two-digit numbers; to perform operations with units such as inch, foot, and yard; ounce and pound (or their metric counterparts). Language ability: Ability to use passive vocabulary of 5-6,000 words; to read at a slow rate; define unfamiliar words in dictionaries for meaning, spelling, and pronunciation. Ability to write sentences using proper punctuation and grammar. Ability to communicate in average sentences; using normal word order with present and past tenses; using a good vocabulary.
