Maintenance
About the role
The Maintenance Assistant provides ongoing preventative maintenance and resident assistance, building and grounds maintenance, troubleshooting maintenance problems and various related tasks as assigned. Performs most tasks independently with occasional assistance of outside vendor. Is available to respond to maintenance emergencies that may arise outside of regular working hours.
Responsibilities
Practices good safety awareness and follows safety procedures, including infection control measures where applicable. Ability to be self-supervising and self-motivating. Able to set priorities and complete tasks in a timely manner. Must demonstrate a positive, courteous and respectful attitude to residents, families, staff and visitors.
Requirements
- Prior experience in building maintenance
- Knowledge of plumbing, including design/mechanics of commodes, plumbing fixtures, drains, discharge lines, hot water heaters, dishwashers, ice machines, etc.
- Knowledge of HVAC, including general principles of HVAC and heat pump operation/mechanics, and refrigeration
- Knowledge of electricity, including wiring, voltage, amperage
- Knowledge of mechanics, including design/operation of engines
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and no major violations
