About the Role
Mersen is a global expert in electrical specialties and advanced materials for high-tech industries. Present in 32 countries with 50 industrial sites and 24 R&D centres, Mersen develops custom solutions and supplies key products to meet the new technological challenges that will shape tomorrow's world. This role involves repairing and maintaining buildings, facilities, small machines, and equipment, requiring skills in carpentry, plumbing, pipefitting, machine repair, electrical work, masonry, and painting.
Responsibilities
- Fully participate in and support the Mersen Quality System.
- Lay concrete blocks and slabs, measure, cut, and thread pipe according to specifications.
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical distribution systems, controls, portable power tools, and related components (e.g., conduit, wires, outlet/control boxes, switches).
- Assist in building and rebuilding furnaces, including making and replacing components as required.
- Measure, cut, and fit materials for shelves, partitions, and other structural elements.
- Maintain interior and exterior of buildings, including painting, varnishing, staining, and repairing windows, doors, roofs, floors, stairways, and walls.
- Perform minor repairs such as replacing fuses, light bulbs, motor controls, and switches.
- Rebuild and remodel machines, overhauling troublesome components (e.g., dismantling, inspecting, machining, or replacing parts).
- Perform skilled operations, including fitting and aligning bearings, spindles, and shafts; aligning and calibrating measuring devices and moving parts; and adjusting feeding mechanisms.
- Oil and lubricate machines and equipment routinely and according to preventative maintenance schedules.
- Work from machine design drawings, specifications, and handbook formulas using tools like scales, verniers, squares, calipers, and micrometers.
- Use various hand and bench tools for masonry, plumbing, carpentry, electrical, and machine repair work.
- Continually improve and monitor quality through product delivery, conformance, and performance.
Requirements
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or six to twelve months of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
