Maintenance Associate
About the Role
This position is responsible for completing work order requests to build and repair equipment as quickly and accurately as possible while minimizing costs, and performing preventive maintenance to keep all equipment in good operating condition to meet the plant’s goals.
Responsibilities
- Completes electrical projects, including design and installation.
- Troubleshoots electrical problems and corrects as required; reads electrical schematics.
- Troubleshoots mechanical devices in operation; dismantles and examines devices to access and remove defective parts.
- Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments; repairs or replaces defective parts.
- Sets up and operates shop machinery such as drill press, grinders, band saws, cutting torch, and welder.
- Uses hand tools and pneumatic tools to modify or repair parts and equipment.
- Installs new or repairs/modifies hydraulic and pneumatic equipment as needed.
- Operates the cooling water system.
- Researches supplies, parts, and machines needed to complete work orders; orders parts on the company computer system.
- Assists in organizing and maintaining an accurate inventory of parts.
- Performs and documents work orders and preventive maintenance tasks as assigned.
- Maintains and tracks workload and assignments.
- Completes and maintains all required paperwork, records, maintenance logs, documents, manuals, and drawings.
- Supports the vision, mission, and guiding principles of the company.
- Follows applicable Safety, Health, and Environmental rules and guidelines while performing any procedure.
- Maintains departmental housekeeping standards.
- Other duties as assigned.
Physical and Environmental Demands
- Requires standing, sitting, walking, crouching, kneeling, stooping, and climbing steps and ladders.
- Must be able to use hands to handle and feel objects or manipulate controls; talk, see, and hear.
- Work is in a plant environment with high noise levels.
- Must frequently lift and/or move up to 55 pounds and occasionally handle up to 250 pounds.
- Environment is typically dusty and includes exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals.
- Work environment includes hazardous moving equipment; requires use of safety equipment (e.g., safety glasses, shoes, ear plugs, respirator, face shield, chemical suit).
- Work may be inside or outside; typical noise level is loud.
- Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles.
- Frequently exposed to vibration; occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock.
Requirements
- High School Diploma preferred; Associate’s degree (A.A.) or Licensed Journeyman in lieu of degree or commensurate experience preferred.
- Proven expertise in troubleshooting control systems, electric components, pneumatic, instrumentation, and mechanical devices.
- Proven expertise in industrial electrical, including design, sizing, installation, and component-level troubleshooting.
- Experience in other maintenance fields such as plumbing, refrigeration, carpentry, welding, forklift repair, etc.
- Competent PC (MS Office and Windows) computer skills desired.
- Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize and adjust to rapid changes.
Schedule
Shift: 7pm to 7am (2 on, 2 off; 2 on, 2 off; 3 on, 3 off)
Pay
Shift Differential: $2.50 per hour
