Maintenance Assistant

Maintains and repairs the facility’s physical plant and its various systems including plumbing, electrical, structural and equipment as well as maintaining grounds.

• Safely operates equipment, power and hand tools.
• Advise appropriate facility personnel of any potential shut-downs to enable the staff to provide alternate plans for the continuation of operations.
• Plans efficient use of time, cooperates with all other staff and performs responsibilities with a minimum disruption to the facility.
• Inspects facility and reports to Maintenance Supervisor any needed repairs.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a hospital or long term care facility preferred.
• Ability to perform, and working knowledge of, routine plumbing, electrical, mechanical, carpentry and grounds keeping tasks including painting, wallpapering, and shoveling snow.
• Valid drivers’ license and safe driving record.
• Demonstrates cooperation in assisting others and ability to work as a team.
• Patience, tact, enthusiasm and a positive attitude toward the residents and their support networks.
