Qualifications
- High school education or equivalent preferred.
- A minimum of eighteen (18) years of age.
- Able to read, write, and speak the English language in an understandable manner.
- Able to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
- Able to deal tactfully with residents, family members, visitors, personnel, government agencies/personnel and the general public.
- Able to work harmoniously with other personnel.
- Able to have patience, tact, cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.
- Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
- Must possess sight/hearing senses or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of this position can be fully met, to include the use of the maintenance equipment and supplies.
- May be required to lift, push, pull and move equipment, supplies, etc., in excess of fifty (50) pounds throughout the workday.
- Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
- Must understand that this is a health care facility and as such there is a risk of exposure to infectious diseases including blood borne diseases, such as HIV and Hepatitis.
- Willing to follow correct infection control guidelines including the usage of Personal Protective Equipment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Follow established departmental policies and procedures, including appropriate dress code.
- Perform tasks as assigned by the Building Manager including, but not exclusively:
- Monitor temperatures
- Monitor equipment
- Monitor/assist outside contractors
- Perform simple mechanical, electrical, record keeping and plumbing maintenance tasks
- Assist the Building Manager on more complex tasks when requested
- Assist in the relocation of equipment/furniture within the building
- Respond to off hour emergencies
- Immediately rectify or report to the Building Manager or Manager on Duty any observed safety threat.
- Follow the Alden Infection Control, Maintenance, Fire Safety, and OSHA Safety Policies as written.
- Maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest, and positive emphasis as well as a calm environment throughout the Facility.
- Participate in Departmental and Facility In-service Education Programs and staff meetings.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
