Maintenance Assistant

About the role

The Maintenance Assistant provides ongoing preventative maintenance and resident assistance, building and grounds maintenance, troubleshooting maintenance problems and various related tasks as assigned. Performs most tasks independently with occasional assistance of outside vendor. Is available to respond to maintenance emergencies that may arise outside of regular working hours.

Responsibilities

• Prioritize and complete tasks in a timely manner.
• Practice good safety awareness and follow safety procedures, including infection control measures where applicable.
• Set priorities and complete tasks in a timely manner.
• Respond to maintenance emergencies outside of regular working hours.
• Provide resident assistance and building and grounds maintenance.
• Perform troubleshooting on maintenance problems.

Requirements

• Prior experience in building maintenance.
• Knowledge of plumbing, including design/mechanics of commodes, plumbing fixtures, drains, discharge lines, hot water heaters, dishwashers, ice machines, etc.
• Knowledge of HVAC, including general principles of HVAC and heat pump operation/mechanics, and refrigeration.
• Knowledge of electricity, including wiring, voltage, amperage.
• Knowledge of mechanics, including design/operation of engines.
• A valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

Qualifications

Must possess a valid driver’s license; must have a clean driving record with no major violations.
