Maintenance Assistant
Responsibilities
- Perform a variety of routine and semiskilled maintenance, repairs, installation, and construction tasks in one or more of the following trades: mechanical, building, motor equipment, and electrical.
- May perform journey-level activities under the supervision of the General Mechanic to learn and perfect skills.
Requirements
- Two years of experience in maintenance or mechanical work under the supervision of a skilled tradesworker.
- OR completion of an appropriate two-year technical school course.
Additional Notes
All prospective employees will undergo a Criminal Background Check (CBC), including State and federal Criminal History Record Checks. Conviction of a felony or misdemeanor, or falsified/omitted information on the employment application, may disqualify a candidate or result in removal after appointment. Each case will be evaluated individually under applicable laws.
Prospective employees will be fingerprinted to obtain criminal history records and may be required to pay associated fees. They will also be screened against the Statewide Central Register of Child Abuse and Maltreatment (SCR) and may be responsible for related fees.
For Division of Juvenile Justice and Opportunities for Youth (DJJOY) positions, candidates will be checked against the Staff Exclusion List (SEL). Those found responsible for serious or repeated acts of abuse or neglect will be barred from appointment and may be removed from eligible lists.
