About the role
The Maintenance Technician at Emerald Nursing & Rehab Lancaster plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation and safety of our skilled nursing facility. This position involves performing routine maintenance and repairs on building systems, equipment, and grounds to maintain a safe, clean, and functional environment for our residents and staff.
Work Environment: This position requires working both indoors and outdoors, with exposure to various environmental conditions. Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings or weekends, as needed.
Responsibilities
- Conduct regular inspections of the facility’s systems and equipment, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.
- Perform preventive maintenance tasks according to established schedules.
- Diagnose and repair issues related to electrical systems, plumbing, heating, and cooling systems; address and resolve problems promptly to minimize disruptions.
- Ensure that all maintenance work complies with relevant safety regulations and facility policies; perform safety checks and address any hazards or safety concerns immediately.
- Respond to emergency maintenance requests as needed, including after-hours calls; prioritize tasks based on urgency and impact on resident safety and comfort.
- Assist with the coordination of external contractors and vendors for specialized repairs or services; ensure that all work performed by external parties meets facility standards and requirements.
- Oversee the upkeep of maintenance tools and equipment, ensuring they are in good working condition and properly stored.
- Assist with general facility maintenance tasks, including landscaping, painting, and minor construction projects; support other departments as needed.
- Collaborate with facility management and staff to identify and address maintenance needs; provide clear and timely communication regarding the status of maintenance requests and repairs.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Formal training or certification in maintenance, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or a related field is preferred.
- Previous experience in a maintenance role, especially in a healthcare or skilled nursing setting, is highly desirable.
