About the Role
The Maintenance Assistant at Edenbrook Rochester supports the daily maintenance functions of our facility, ensuring equipment, utilities, and grounds are maintained in good working order according to facility policies and state and federal regulations.
Responsibilities
- Ensure maintenance schedules are followed as outlined for respective shift or area.
- Assist the Maintenance Supervisor in setting maintenance standards and developing procedures for daily maintenance tasks.
- Coordinate daily maintenance services with nursing services when performing assignments in resident living and/or recreational areas.
- Perform administrative requirements (e.g., completing forms, reports) and submit them to the Maintenance Supervisor as necessary.
- Submit accidents/incident reports to the Maintenance Supervisor on the shift in which they occur.
- Collaborate with the Maintenance Supervisor and team members to complete assigned tasks and projects within designated timelines.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment for staff and residents.
- Assist in training and supervising new maintenance staff as required.
- Maintain open and effective communication with residents, staff, and management to address maintenance-related concerns or requests promptly.
- Support the overall cleanliness and appearance of the community through regular inspections and maintenance of common areas and resident living spaces.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor.
Qualifications
- Maintenance experience in senior living is preferred but not required.
- Experience and skill in painting.
- Experience with light repairs and general maintenance is required.
- Good telephone and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in performing maintenance tasks.
- Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position, including lifting, bending, standing for extended periods, and operating maintenance equipment.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask effectively.
- A caring, team-player attitude with a customer service-focused personality.
- Knowledge of healthcare maintenance standards, regulations, and procedures is preferred.
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with maintenance management systems or software is desirable.
- High school diploma or equivalent education is required; technical or vocational training in maintenance-related fields is a plus.
