About the role
The Maintenance Assistant plays a key role in supporting day-to-day operations by maintaining facilities, equipment, and grounds across Blue Ridge Care locations. This position ensures our Care Resource Centers (CRCs), Thrift Shops, and administrative spaces remain clean, safe, and functional.
Responsibilities
- Perform installation, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of facility and production equipment.
- Complete daily maintenance tasks including sweeping, mopping, cleaning, and general upkeep.
- Conduct painting projects at CRCs and Thrift Shops as needed.
- Perform minor furniture and facility repairs.
- Change HVAC filters at designated locations.
- Install and maintain flooring, ceiling tiles, light fixtures, cabinetry, vinyl base, door hardware, and ceramic tile.
- Power wash, clean windows, and perform snow removal as needed.
- Manage mowing and landscaping responsibilities at CRCs and Thrift Shops.
- Support slat wall installation, cash wrap relocation, and shelving adjustments.
- Auxiliary support warehouse drivers with loading and unloading trucks for store openings.
- Auxiliary support store openings and office relocations, including CRC moves.
- Ensure company vehicles are clean, properly maintained, and serviced as required.
- Accurately identify receipts and submit all documentation to Accounts Payable daily.
- Take responsible care of all tools and equipment issued by Blue Ridge Care.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support operational needs.

Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Valid driver’s license with a properly insured vehicle in compliance with state and organizational requirements.
- Willingness and ability to travel throughout the full service area.
- Strong physical ability, including regularly lifting up to 100 pounds.
- Ability to work in all environmental conditions.

- Basic computer proficiency or willingness to learn new systems and tools.
- Prior hands-on experience in building maintenance, carpentry, or facilities support.
