Maintenance Assistant

Job Summary

Bell Tower Residence is seeking a dependable and skilled maintenance technician to assist with the overall maintenance and repair of our facility and grounds. This position plays an important role in maintaining a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for residents, employees, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform general maintenance and repair work throughout the facility.
• Assist with preventative maintenance programs.
• Troubleshoot and repair building systems and equipment.
• Maintain safe and efficient operation of the building and grounds.
• Respond to maintenance requests and emergency calls as assigned.
• Participate in on-call rotations as needed.
• Support compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
• Assist with annual maintenance planning and ordering of supplies.
• Work collaboratively with administration and department staff.
• Participate in staff meetings and required training programs.
• Help ensure resident safety during emergency situations, including evacuations if needed.

Qualifications

• Required:
• A high school diploma or GED.
• A valid Wisconsin driver’s license with a good driving record.
• The ability to complete all required State of Wisconsin CBRF training within 90 days of employment.
• The ability to read, write, and communicate in English.

• Preferred:
• A minimum of 3 years of building maintenance experience and/or other technical training.
• Experience with plumbing, electrical systems, boiler and hot water systems, ventilation and refrigeration systems, painting and drywall repair, lawn equipment, carpentry and masonry repairs.

Skills and Abilities

• Ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively.
• Strong troubleshooting and mechanical skills.
• The ability to read blueprints and technical documents.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• The ability to prioritize tasks and respond effectively in emergencies.
• Strong teamwork and customer service skills.

Physical Requirements

• Lifting and carrying up to 100 pounds.
• Frequent standing, walking, bending, climbing and reaching.
• Use of maintenance tools and equipment.
• Exposure to varying temperatures, loud noise, chemicals, and outdoor conditions.

Work Environment

• Employees may occasionally be exposed to cleaning chemicals, electrical hazards, moving equipment, confined spaces, ladders, roofs, crawl spaces, outdoor weather conditions, and boiler room environments.
