Maintenance and Facilities Technician

Johnson Clarke Inc, a Palm Beach Tan franchise with 20 locations, is looking for a Maintenance and Facilities Technician in the area surrounding St. Louis, MO. This position involves performing general maintenance and upkeep duties for all Palm Beach Tan retail locations in the greater St. Louis area, reporting directly to the Head Maintenance and Facilities Tech.

About the role

Travel to all St. Louis and greater area retail locations to complete required work. You will work on a variety of equipment at our salons, including washers, dryers, tanning beds, and spray booths, with ongoing training and support. This role offers the opportunity to develop skills in troubleshooting and understanding equipment issues, applicable both professionally and personally. We provide the tools, training, and support; you bring hard work and a desire to learn. This is a fast-paced position with high expectations for attention to detail and pride in work. Hours are variable, with potential for full-time depending on abilities and growth.

Responsibilities

• Receive oral or written orders from the Head Maintenance and Facilities Tech.
• Perform work according to standard procedure and each facility's operational schedule.
• Wash walls, ceilings, woodwork, windows, doors, and sills.
• Make minor carpentry, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing repairs.
• Perform touch-up and finish painting.
• Replace light bulbs.
• Set up and tear down equipment.
• Follow all applicable safety rules and procedures.
• Report work accomplished orally or on written work order to supervisor.
• Participate in general cleaning, painting, and repair work.
• Use hand tools and power tools in making minor maintenance repairs and maintaining grounds and walks.
• Assist in shipping and receiving of parts and supplies.
• Provide assistance to staff, customers, and other employees as necessary.
• Perform tanning equipment lamp changes.
• Work on all tanning equipment (on-the-job training provided).

Requirements

• Previous experience in building and equipment maintenance work.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved oral or written instructions.
• Ability to relate to staff and public in a courteous manner.
• Ability to acquire job skills within three months of on-the-job training.
• Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 75 pounds; assist with lifting heavier items as needed.
• Ability to work occasionally in poor weather conditions, including heat, cold, and rain.
• Valid driver’s license.

This position does not have a specific office location. You will start your day from home or the location in Westport Plaza and travel to locations as needed in the St. Louis area.
