Maintenace Mechanic

Responsibilities
- Monitors and inspects testing equipment and other instrumentation throughout the plant facility on a scheduled basis or as needs arise.
- Corrects control loop performance issues by making minor adjustments or tuning.
- Disassembles and examines malfunctioning instruments and test equipment, such as bar graphs, electrical ovens, multimeters, environmental cabinets, and weather-o-meters to test for defects. Replaces or repairs defective parts and reassembles and tests equipment for conformance to specifications.
- Calibrates and aligns instruments or test equipment according to established standards. May update E&I calibration program, including maintaining manuals and documentation required for ISO certification.
- May assist in developing E&I preventive maintenance programs for electrical, instrumentation, and control systems.
- Assists in the construction of mechanical, plumbing, and electrical systems for process equipment.
- Continuously identifies problem areas and suggests plans to optimize performance regarding installation, hardware, software, and/or process issues in close cooperation with production.
- Performs or monitors installations of new instrumentation and ensures conformance with Cabot and industry standards. Aligns newly installed equipment to conform to special (R&D) testing needs.
- Participates in scheduled safety meetings and completes safety training requirements.
- Provides technical support on capital projects to ensure that plant standards are followed and reliable equipment is installed.
- May coordinate the work of maintenance contractors, depending on location.
- Supports efforts to implement and maintain the Responsible Care® Management System in line with the requirements of the RC14001® technical specification, as applicable to the site/region.
Requirements
- Knowledge of electro-mechanical and electronic testing techniques and procedures.
- Ability to use a variety of precision tools and diagnostic equipment; read and interpret operation and maintenance instructions and manuals.
- Knowledge of math to perform and understand basic calculations.
- Familiarity with computers as a user.
- Troubleshooting, diagnosing, and problem-solving skills.
- Displays creativity skills.
- Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to work collaboratively with others in a team-based environment.
- Technical school training relating to electrical/instrumentation testing and repair.
- 3-5+ years of experience.
