About the role

Maintenance B Technician at International Paper, Fort Smith, AR. Hourly, full-time, rotating schedule. Pay rate $27.72-$32.00 per hour, sign-on bonuses available.

Responsibilities

• Follow all safety rules and practices.
• Ensure product safety.
• Perform preventative maintenance activities such as lubricating, measuring wear, measuring positions, repositioning components, and observing operations, vibrations, and noise levels.
• Perform emergency / breakdown maintenance as necessary to support plant operations.
• Reference equipment manuals and other technical literature.
• Use measurement and test equipment.
• Install and check for backlash and wear and maintain gears.
• Design, build, and install simple pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
• Safely operate the boiler, maintaining adequate steam pressure (greater than or equal to 180 PSI).
• Identify types of bearings and class of fits, sizes of belts, sheaves, sprockets, and chains.
• Keep work areas clean and organized, and clean up as part of completing tasks.
• Prepare and maintain maintenance records and other paperwork.
• Utilize maintenance computer system to enter notifications, time, research parts, manuals, drawings, etc.
• Trouble-shoot and solve problems.
• Maintain teamwork with other associates.
• Inform supervisors of problems or unusual situations.

Qualifications

• Ability to perform duties with or without accommodation.
• Able to use and read a variety of measuring devices.
• Well-rounded electrical, mechanical, and machine shop skills and experience.
• The ability to learn and follow instructions.
• Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving ability.
• Knowledge of PLC functions and wiring.
• Knowledge of trouble diagnosis in electrical systems or equipment.
• Knowledge of motor frequency drives.

Skills

• Electrical maintenance experience preferred.
• Proven experience as an electrician.
• Experience in industrial and/or commercial electrical systems.
• Demonstrable ability to use electrical and hand tools (e.g., wire strippers, voltmeter, etc.) and electrical drawings and blueprints.
• Thorough knowledge of safety procedures and legal regulations and guidelines.
• Knowledge of the function and wiring of PLC's.
• Locating and diagnosing trouble in the electrical system or equipment.
• Knowledge of the functions of motor frequency drives.
