Mainframe Programmer

Core Responsibilities

• Work on an agile team on the Product and Rewards applications
• Attend Team agile ceremonies
• Understand JCL, Job streams, and CA-7
• Coding, Unit Testing, Integration testing, and User acceptance testing
• Develop, test, operate, and maintain products
• Take full stack ownership by consistently writing production-ready and testable code
• Analyze failures, propose design changes, and encourage operational improvements
• Apply feedback from code reviews to meet engineering standards
• Conduct code reviews to guide best practices and ensure compliance with development procedures
• Review tasks critically, ensuring they are appropriately prioritized and sized for incremental delivery
• Anticipate and communicate blockers or delays before escalation is needed

Requirements

• 5+ years of relevant experience
• Mainframe COBOL
• DB2
• JCL
• 5+ years of experience with COBOL in enterprise environments
• Expertise in RPG400, RPG III, COBOL, or SYNON within an AS/400 environment, or COBOL/C in mid-range platforms such as DEC VAX or HP3000
• Experience as an AS/400 Programmer, VAX Programmer, or HP Programmer
• Proficient in full software development life cycle, particularly in developing and supporting business applications
• Skilled in modifying and enhancing existing applications to meet evolving business needs
• Familiarity with high-volume, large-scale batch or online processing systems

Pay

The approximate pay range for this position is between $40.00 and $54.00. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to background, knowledge, skills, and location. We comply with local wage minimums.
