About the role
Our client seeks an Infrastructure Engineer for Mainframe Communications Systems Software within the Technology Services Group. The role oversees lifecycle delivery for mainframe hardware and software, leads teams administering z/OS environments, and drives modernization, automation, and cross-functional collaboration.
Work arrangement
Hybrid schedule with four days onsite at one of the following locations: Jersey City, NJ; Lake Mary, FL; Pittsburgh, PA; or Nashville, TN.
Compensation
Rate: $80.00 to $90.00 per hour on a W2 basis.
Responsibilities
- Oversee lifecycle delivery projects for mainframe hardware and software.
- Administer multiple z/OS mainframes and core technologies including JCL, DB2, IMS, CICS, SDLC practices, source code management, and security mechanisms such as ACF2, RACF, and TSS.
- Rethink legacy service assumptions to modernize and automate capabilities.
- Drive cross-functional collaboration with data center services, production services, and application development teams.
- Support infrastructure strategy, lifecycle ownership, and modernization initiatives.
- Partner with application and operations teams and communicate outcomes to executives.
Requirements
- Hands-on mainframe infrastructure leadership with z/OS/MVS systems programming background.
- Mainframe communications experience with VTAM, TCP/IP, IBM Connect:Direct, CA Session Manager, and CA Spool.
- Mainframe software installation and maintenance with SMP/E, JCL, ISPF/TSO.
- Security exposure with RACF, ACF2, and Top Secret.
- Experience supporting or administering CICS, DB2, and IMS.
- Strong understanding of SDLC and source code management.
- 10+ years in information technology.
- Financial services experience is a plus.
- Proven leadership of technical teams and complex programs.
- Experience with tooling, utilities, data transport, and architecture and design principles.
- Skilled communicator able to influence stakeholders and simplify complex topics.
Preferred qualifications
- BMC AMI OPS, Output Management, Control-D, Control-V, console management, release and change management, CMDB, ITIL/ITSM, and mainframe platform frameworks.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Advanced certifications in infrastructure engineering or related disciplines preferred.
