On-siteProject Management$4k/moPart-time

About the role

The Field Organizer will stand up a strong, sustainable Local Action Team (LAT) in Maine's 2nd Congressional District. The LAT will meet regularly for organizing and educational activities, engage directly with their members of Congress, and take visible public actions on RepresentUs's accountability and reform agenda.

Responsibilities

  • Take over day-to-day recruitment from national staff upon hire; build the LAT from RepresentUs’s existing ME-2 member list and voter file outreach
  • Conduct phone banking and in-person outreach to identify and cultivate prospective LAT members across the district
  • Organize and host the first LAT meeting (target: late July), helping participants understand the commitment and what they're being asked to do
  • Build toward a core team of 5+ consistent participants and a mobilization list of 15-35 supporters by end of September
  • Facilitate regular team meetings (virtual and in-person) to coordinate, debrief visits, and plan next actions
  • Lead preparation and execution of district office visits to Jared Golden’s office every 6 weeks, including scheduling, briefing participants, delivering specific asks, documenting outcomes, and following up in writing
  • Make initial contact with Golden’s district office upon hire; establish an ongoing constituent relationship
  • Identify and develop 3 core leaders within the LAT; support their growth toward running team actions independently
  • Cook up with national RepresentUs staff on training materials, tailored talking points, and district-specific asks
  • Aid RepresentUs staff in scenario-planning for incoming Representative pending election outcomes, and prepare LAT members for 2027 cycle plan dependent on election results
  • Support LAT members in taking public-facing action: letters to the editor, op-eds, community tabling, local events, social media engagement, and more
  • Help plan and execute the LAT’s first public-facing action in August
  • Work with the State Advisory Council (SAC) and national staff to amplify the LAT’s visibility and credibility in the district
  • Maintain a nonpartisan, cross-ideological approach through the November election; build constituent credibility with all campaigns
  • Maintain accurate records of LAT participants, contacts, and outreach activity
  • Attend regular check-ins with national RepresentUs staff
  • Cook up logistics for in-person events including venue, materials, and travel across ME-2
