About the role

The Machine Operator (MO) is responsible for running a digital press/copier, wide format printer and Colex flatbed cutter. The MO will also operate mail machines, pallet jacks, lift trucks, paper cutters and mail systems including UPS and USPS (domestic and international). The role includes reporting to internal teams on print jobs, coordinating machinery maintenance, and assisting internal teams with on-site physical projects.

Responsibilities

  • Mail/Printing:
    • Complete in-house mail distribution, packaging of boxes and delivery of mail to local post office via company-issued van
    • Safely operate all equipment in both print/ship shops (imager, cutters, binders, postage machines, and folders)
    • Ensure UPS addresses are accurate for shipping
    • Check for UPS debits
    • Handle creation of binders
    • Process and maintain accounting reports and update inventory spreadsheets
    • Maintain yearly book of all jobs completed in shipping and printing
    • Process trade show large shipments
    • Handle paper delivery (lift up to 50 pounds) within the campus
    • Keep inventory of all supplies (boxes, UPS label holders, ink, bubble wrap, tape, comb binders, paper, blank envelopes); order when quantities get low or additional items are needed for mailings/meetings
    • Maintain Best’s Review print magazine distribution lists and inventory, including Respond
  • Equipment:
    • Track equipment maintenance, including scheduling vendor maintenance and producing a yearly maintenance tracking system for all equipment
    • Perform maintenance on all equipment in both shops
    • Track when maintenance agreements expire and obtain replacement contracts when needed
    • Update the equipment safety manual
  • Internal Support:
    • Assist other teams with special projects and provide ongoing support as needed, including Production and Graphic Design, Marketing, Corporate Displays, Editorial, and Building Engineering
  • Local Deliveries:
    • Complete regular local deliveries/pick-ups and company van appointments

Skills

  • Strong communication skills and a service-oriented approach with all levels of the organization
  • Excellent customer-service skills with internal teams and external contacts
  • Mastery knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (specifically Word and Excel)

Schedule

8:30 AM–4:30 PM (100% in office)

Requirements

  • High School Diploma required
  • 2+ years of experience with at least 2 years of shipping and printing experience required
