About the role

The H-E-B Store Department Lead is responsible for leading a well-stocked and maintained department, providing superior customer service, and performing supervisory responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Store Lead Operations / Training: May serve as backup to Department Manager and typically works opposite shift to Manager. Helps prepare department work schedules.
• Supervisory Responsibilities: Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with policies and applicable laws. Assists with inventory control; loads, unloads, and moves product.
• Training / Development: Trains Partners; directs work; addresses complaints; resolves issues; builds / follows up on production plans and their execution.
• Customer Service / Sales: Provides / coaches on superior customer service. Takes orders from customers by telephone or in person. Answers customer questions regarding products; assists them with selections. Uses suggestive selling techniques and advanced product knowledge and experience to meet customer needs and build department sales.
• Merchandising: Merchandises products effectively. Slices, packages, labels, rotates, and culls products for poor quality.
• Food Safety: Complies with department / Store operating procedures. Cleans / sanitizes sales floor, display cases, prep areas, and equipment.

Requirements

• Age Requirement: 18+
• Work Experience: Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Expert knowledge of department production stations, including quality standards, set-up, operation, cleaning, and maintenance of all equipment. Ability to read and interpret documents, write routine reports and correspondence, speak effectively before groups of customers or Partners, apply common sense / understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form, deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Communication and interpersonal skills.
• Licenses/Certifications: Completion of Company Orientation, food safety and sanitation training, and eCommerce Online Ordering training.

Qualifications

• Education: Associate's degree (AA), or equivalent from two-year college or technical school or 6+ months of related experience and / or training, or combination of equivalent education / training.
