About the role

The Madison Community Scholars (MCS) program offers paid positions that provide real-world experience and a positive social impact. Eligibility requires being a current full-time JMU student and eligible for Federal Work Study.

Responsibilities

• Supporting students, staff, and teachers in a school and/or childcare setting
• Implementing developmentally appropriate activities and lessons
• Aiding in classroom preparation, management, and maintenance
• Collaboratively developing lesson plans and curriculum
• Regularly managing timesheets using an online platform
• Participating in workshops and meetings
• Engaging in educational programs
• Committing to consistent work hours throughout the academic year

Qualifications

• Be a current JMU student (enrolled in at least 6 credits)
• Eligible for Federal Work Study via the '26 – '27 financial aid package
