Role Summary/Purpose
MACHINIST FAA Covered position
Essential Responsibilities
- Read blueprints, sketches, or computer-aided design (CAD) and computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) files
- Set up and operate manual, automatic, and/or computer numerically controlled (CNC) machine tools
- Align, secure, and adjust cutting tools and workpieces
- Monitor the feed and speed of machines
- Turn, mill, drill, shape, and grind machine parts to specifications
- Measure, examine, and test completed products for defects
- Work with engineering on modification of repairs or new repairs
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment
Qualifications / Skills
- High school diploma/GED
- One to two years related experience or training
- Must be able to work 2nd shift after training period (2:30pm-11:00pm)
- Must be a US Citizen or US Permanent resident
- Requires the ability to read, write, and speak the English language: interpret and follow written procedures, i.e. AWI (Aviation Work Instructions), etc., complete documentation, i.e. routers, etc., and follow verbal instructions
- Basic math and computer skills
- Demonstrated proficiency in the use of measuring instruments, such as scales, micrometers, venires, calipers, dial indicators/ surface plates, surface testers, etc.
- Analytic skills
- CNC Machinist Technical Certificate desired
Physical Demands / Work Environment
- Frequently required to sit, stand, regularly use full range of motion of upper and lower extremities
- Frequently lift and /or move up to 10 pounds
- Sometimes lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
- Sometimes lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Exposure to chemicals, noise, varying temperatures, and other workplace hazards
