Machinist-Set up- 2nd Shift

About the Role

Sanmina Corporation, a leading integrated manufacturing solutions provider, is seeking a skilled CNC Machinist to join our team in Newark, California. This role involves setting up, operating, and adjusting various manual and CNC machine shop equipment to produce precision metal and plastic components for industries such as industrial, semiconductor, clean technology, and oil & gas.

Responsibilities

• Transfer programs from server to CNC machines using DNC software.
• Set up and operate CNC machines to perform machine functions on metal or plastic workpieces.
• Mount, install, align, and secure tools, attachments, fixtures, and workpieces using hand tools and precision measuring instruments.
• Perform in-process inspection of parts to ensure compliance with drawing requirements.
• Adjust tool and work offsets to maintain part specifications.
• Ensure proper lubrication and cooling of workpieces during machine operation.
• Review program specifications or blueprints to determine machine operations, sequencing, and finished workpiece dimensions.
• Monitor machine operation for issues like dull cutting tools or excessive vibration and make adjustments.
• Replace dull cutting tools and monitor coolant levels.
• Comply with health and safety policies and procedures.

Additional Duties

• Set up future jobs while machines are running.
• Write simple programs for CNC control panels.
• Confer with supervisors to resolve machine malfunctions or production errors.
• Sort shop orders to maximize material utilization and minimize setup time.
• Follow safety and health guidelines, including 5S procedures.
• Identify and report machine problems to supervisors or maintenance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a CNC machinist on mills or lathes.
• Basic computer skills.
• Understanding of machining metals and plastics.
• Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
• Ability to observe warning signs and signals in the workplace.

Skills

• Ability to read and interpret training documents, safety rules, and procedural documents.
• Mathematical skills to solve problems using appropriate methods or formulas.
• Reasoning ability to apply general rules to specific problems and form conclusions.

Work Environment

The role is performed in a climate-controlled manufacturing environment with exposure to dust, oil, coolant, and noise. The noise level is moderate to high, and the work pace is fast with frequent changes to processes.

Pay

Salary Range (annual): $55,000-$70,000. Actual base pay will be based on relevant experience, education, certifications, and skills, as part of a total rewards package including health insurance, life and disability insurance, savings plan, paid holidays, and PTO.
