The company's automotive center is in Rochester Hills, Michigan which consists of finance, sales, engineering, testing, and program management, and will serve as the Machinist III.
Position Summary
The Machinist III position is an advanced working level position for machining and fabricating. The individual should be competent in all facets of machining and measuring. This knowledge should include manual machining, CNC programming/operation as well as some welding and metal forming. The main responsibility of this position is to machine and produce products to print and/or direction independently. Individuals will be tasked to work with engineering and other machinists to develop products and habits conducive to company standards. Individuals will also be tasked to improve the machine shop efficiencies of both operation and individual knowledge.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
- Develops and fabricates parts, fixtures, and assemblies using metal forming, machining and joining equipment
- Possesses listening/learning skills
- Good communication skills for your development and company enhancement
- Assists in development of new products/components
- Fabricates, builds, assembles, verifies and maintains set-up of test fixture
- Works with Engineers to develop products, test methods, and fixtures that meet customer and Hi-Lex requirements
- Improves processes to manufacture components for product build and test fixtures
- Performs dimensional inspections and material inspections as needed
- Assembles prototype products which meet customer specifications and delivery requirements
- Promotes an associate relations environment that is consistent with long term management objectives
- Possesses mechanical background
- Performs other duties as necessary

Education
This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
Functional Experience
- Ability to read complex engineering drawings preferred
- Ability to weld aluminum and mild steel
- Ability to form and bend metal products independently
- Basic knowledge of electricity and measuring equipment
- CNC three axis background programming/application
- Advanced knowledge of the properties of a variety of construction materials
- Advanced working knowledge of measuring equipment (Calipers, Micrometers, etc.)
- Knowledge of CMM measurement systems preferably FARO arm
- Familiarization with MasterCam or equivalent CAD/CAM software
Industry Experience
- 7 years experience is preferred
- 2-year degree in engineering field or equivalent preferred
