Machinist (Horizontal Lathe 2nd Shift)

About the role

This position is responsible for setting up and operating conventional, special purpose, and numerical control (NC) machines and machining centers to fabricate metallic and nonmetallic parts.

Responsibilities

• Experience on CNC lathe or mill
• Install chuck jaws and/or fixtures on machine
• Set-Up CNC Machines using edge finder or probe to locate program zero
• Read in and adjust program speeds, feeds, depth of cuts as required
• Machine part to drawing
• Measure part, complete inspection report and adjust offsets
• May perform any other work-related functions as deemed necessary and appropriate by immediate supervisor

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• At least 3 years' experience on CNC Machines or Manual Machines
• Must be able to read and understand G-Codes and M-Codes using Fanuc controls
• Able to perform job duties with or without reasonable accommodations
• Experience machining valve components a plus

Skills

• Must be able to machine exotic materials such as Titanium and Inconel
• Ability to read blueprints and specifications and produce precision work
• Ability to work in a team-oriented environment that is fast paced and demanding
• Must be self-directed, have excellent initiative and organizational skills
• Exhibits a strong ability to handle multiple demands with a sense of urgency, drive and energy
• Works well meeting multiple deadlines with the ability to deliver on time

Schedule

2nd shift. Air-conditioned modern shop located in Northwest Houston with room for advancement for the right individual.

Training program available for manual machinists to learn CNC Machines.
