This role is part of Alcon's Engineering function, a team focused on improving quality, processes, products, packaging and materials across our business to help deliver brilliant outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Machining
- Set up and operate manual and/or CNC machine tools (mills, lathes, drill presses, grinders).
- Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
- Perform precision measurements using micrometers, calipers, gauges, and indicators.
- Machine parts to required tolerances, finishes, and dimensions.
- Troubleshoot machining issues and adjust tooling, speeds, and feeds as required.
- Fabrication
- Lay out, cut, form, and assemble metal components using hand and power tools.
- Perform welding processes such as MIG, TIG, and Stick (as required).
- Create frames, brackets, guards, fixtures, platforms, and structural components.
- Repair damaged equipment and modify existing structures to improve reliability and safety.
- Ensure weld quality meets applicable standards and specifications.
- Maintenance & Support
- Support emergency breakdown repairs and improvement work.
- Collaborate with Maintenance and Engineering.
- Perform preventive maintenance on shop equipment and tools.
Requirements
- A High School Diploma or equivalent.
- The ability to fluently read, write, understand and communicate in English.
- Three (3) years of relevant experience.
- Location: Onsite Houston, TX.
- Schedule: Monday to Friday 9 to 5:30pm.
- Travel Requirements: 0 – 10%.

Preferred Qualifications/Skills/Experience
- CNC machining experience.
- Welding certifications (AWS or equivalent).
- Experience with CMMS (e.g., Maximo).
- On-call or shift work may be required.
