Machinist

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate manual, automatic, cutoff, and abrasive saws, punch press equipment and deburring machines, as well as honing machines, drilling machines, EDM, lathes, centerless grinders and other tools.
• Perform complete in-process operations on envelope assemblies and other parts requiring precision honing, such as TWT electron gun drilling and machining.
• Review transfer sheet details and work on discrepancies.
• Carefully review and understand customer requirements before working on them.
• Work to reduce scrap and dispose of unavoidable scrap to the proper area.

Qualifications

• At least one year of hands-on machine shop experience or equivalent education.
• Demonstrated skill in the use of precision measuring equipment, tools, dies, and jigs.
• Knowledge of all metals and their properties.
• Basic computer uses and data entry skills.
• The ability to read mechanical blueprints.
• Basic math skills.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
