Machinist

About the role

The CNC Machinist at SMS group will set up and operate lathes, mills, and accessories to perform various operations on rolls and other parts to meet quality assurance requirements. They must be safety-minded, enjoy hands-on work, and have the ability to set up and operate both CNC and manual machinery.

Responsibilities

• Operate CNC and manual machinery for metal working applications
• Complete SOP travelers and document daily activities
• Interpret assembly and blueprint drawings
• Follow proper safety precautions
• Train new or other employees to perform job responsibilities
• Maintain an organized and clean work area

Requirements

• HS Diploma or equivalent
• Basic trigonometry functions
• Ability to use and read precise measuring tools
• Ability to learn and understand critical processes and operations in assigned areas

Qualifications

• Converting metric and standard measurements
• Ability to rig heavy machinery and equipment for use with overhead cranes

Skills
