About the role
Machinists at Means Engineering are integral to our mission of creating high-impact solutions across various industries. We are a vertically integrated contract manufacturer where every aspect of production—from design to delivery—is handled in-house. Responsibilities
- Perform advanced CNC milling and turning setup
- Inspect and verify parts to strict quality standards
- Interpret blueprints, GD&T, and technical specifications
- Troubleshoot machining and process issues
- Collaborate with Engineering and Management to produce stable, repeatable processes
- Work with titanium, molybdenum, stainless steel alloys and other difficult alloys
- Edit setup sheets and recommend process improvements
- Perform tooling and process research
- Document job activity, time, and nonconformance in our ERP system
- Partner with Process Engineering on new product introduction (NPI) and continuous improvement
Requirements
- 7+ years of advanced machining experience
- Strong CNC setup expertise—multi-axis preferred
- Tooling, feeds & speeds, workholding and material behavior experience
- Able to read and interpret complex technical drawings and specs
- Excellent measurement skills, including tight tolerances
- Strong communication skills and team collaboration
- Deep understanding of best machining/manufacturing practices
- A proactive, problem-solving mindset focused on quality
- Safety conscious with all aspects of the shop
Qualifications
- Highly skilled machinist who thrives on complex setups, tight tolerances, and solving real-world problems
- Experience with advanced CNC milling and turning
- Ability to work with a variety of materials including titanium, molybdenum, stainless steel alloys and others
- Knowledge of tooling, feeds & speeds, and workholding techniques
- Proficiency in interpreting complex technical drawings and specifications
- Excellent measurement skills, including tight tolerances
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Understanding of best machining and manufacturing practices
- Proactive and solution-oriented approach to problem-solving
- Committed to safety in all aspects of the shop
