Machinist A

Responsibilities

• Deburrs parts
• Buffer, tumbler, under-scope-bench work
• Performs less complete machine operations or a limited number of machine tools such as drill presses, lathes, power saws, shears, grinders, punch presses, honing machines, etc.
• Performs machine operations under supervision, and all work is frequently checked
• Changes and/or sharpens cutting tools during operations, as supervised
• Maintains tolerances by using dial indicators, micrometers, pin gauges and other measuring equipment
• Notifies appropriate personnel of any known operation or process irregularities
• Maintains equipment for daily use and keeps working area safe, clean and orderly
• Makes simple setups under supervision
• Reads, understands and adheres to Shop Safety Regulations
• Performs other duties as assigned

  Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of six (6) months or less shop equipment operation experience
  • Demonstrates manual dexterity
  • Able to understand and follow written and verbal instructions
  • Shop math requirements such as understanding high school mathematics, familiar with and understanding measuring scales, and able to convert fractions to decimals
