Machining Tech IV, Slot & Stamp

Howmet Fastening Systems (HFS) is seeking a 1st Shift Machining Tech IV, Slot & Stamp for our City of Industry, California location. Howmet Aerospace Inc. Responsibilities

• Good communication skills and knowledge of basic shop math
• Able to read, write, and understand basic instructions in English
• Write routine reports and correspondence
• Lift/move up to 30 pounds regularly
• Learn how to use measurement instruments
• Follow direction and complete first piece verification
• Maintain a positive attitude and willingness to learn
• Communicate effectively with team members and Production Team Leader
• Become certified in lock out/tag out (LOTO)
• Be familiar with Human Performance tasks
• Perform entry-level set-ups
• Understand speeds and feeds pertaining to the machine being operated
• Knowledge of all measuring instruments and gages for their operation
• Speak effectively before groups of co-workers, customers, auditors, etc.
• Read and interpret blueprints
• Working knowledge of manufacturing and quality processes and principles
• Comply with all SPC daily requirements (if applicable)
• Understand and maintain machine complements (when applicable)
• Understand cutting tools and offset geometry
• Demonstrate algebra/trigonometry mathematical skills
• Perform first piece verification process per part number
• Cross-train others as required
• Assist supervisor and lead person in training CNC Operator I-VI
• Understand "G" and "M" Codes
• Demonstrate troubleshooting ability
• Be trained on complex CNC set-ups
• Hit run standards per work order
• Full understanding of CNC control functions (e.g., Fanuc)
• Program using different speeds and feeds
• Operate all CNC machines brands and models (Haas, Takamaz, Gildemeister, Muratec)
• Train CNC Operators I-IV
• Demonstrate proficiency in programming or be certified as a programmer
• Excellent troubleshooting skills
• Cross-train and assist other departments to meet facility goals
• Understand programming requirements such as Siemens, Sinumerik, and Fanuc controls
• Make necessary corrections to programs per drawing/blueprint as required
• Proficiently set up, operate, and troubleshoot machinery for self/others
• Independently run large multiple spindle machines (Takamaz & Haas)
• Independently run high-torque Takamaz slotting machines
• Independently run hand-fed HAAS and automatic Takamaz

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a machinist required
• Legally authorized to work in the United States; verification of employment eligibility required at hire (visa sponsorship not available)
• Access to export-controlled items; employment conditioned upon ability to lawfully obtain such access

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred

$22/hr to $27/hr
