Responsibilities & Duties
- Set up and operate manual machining equipment including lathes, milling machines, and surface grinders
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work instructions
- Measure and inspect finished parts using micrometers, calipers, and other precision instruments
- Select appropriate tooling, speeds, and feeds for various materials and operations
- Perform routine maintenance on machines and ensure proper tool care
- Maintain accurate documentation of work performed and parts produced
- Collaborate with engineers and production teams to resolve machining issues
- Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work area
- Support continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives
Requirements (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)
- Proficiency in reading blueprints and using precision measuring tools
- Strong understanding of machining principles and metalworking techniques
- Experience with various materials including steel, aluminum, and alloys
Education and Experience (Required Levels)
- A high school diploma or GED; technical training or apprenticeship preferred
- 3–5 years of experience operating manual machining equipment
Physical Requirements
- Frequently stand, reach with hands, arms, and shoulders
- Occasionally walk, sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Occasionally hand lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds
