Machinery Diagnostics Field Engineer
About the role
Cordant from Baker Hughes, a provider of plant-wide, holistic software, services, and Bently Nevada condition monitoring and protection hardware, offers solutions for pre-commissioning, commissioning, and maintenance shutdowns in oil & gas, chemical, power generation, and other process industries. As a Machinery Diagnostics Field Engineer, you will provide complete service solutions to address critical rotating machinery assets, protection, and monitoring systems.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose machinery problems based on vibration data, operational data, and customer communications.
- Travel to customer sites to provide supporting service.
- Complete timely reports identifying findings and providing recommendations to the customer.
- Build relationships with customers to deliver high-level service, becoming their trusted advisor for rotating equipment health.
- Calculate and oversee placement of balance weights.
- Apply Health, Safety, and Environment (HS&E) standards and procedures.
- Perform mechanical trouble shooting.
- Apply a hands-on approach to problem-solving.
- Read, interpret, and understand mechanical prints.
- Understand rotating machinery operation and controls systems.
- Have theoretical and practical knowledge of reliability services.
- Have knowledge of rotating machinery vibration and/or diagnostics, rotodynamic analysis, PdM data acquisition/evaluation, machinery balancing and alignment.
- Have knowledge of Bently Nevada products and CordantTM services.
- Have basic familiarity with computer network systems.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of industry experience.
- Valid driver's license and passport (or ability to obtain a passport).
- Eligible to obtain a TWIC (Transportation Workers Identification Credential).
- Eligible to travel overseas and/or work on offshore platforms on occasion.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical Engineering preferred).
- Available for extensive travel (up to 70%) and significant over-time (paid).
- Theoretical and practical knowledge of reliability services.
- ISO certification for vibration analysis.
- Demonstrated authority and assurance in dealing with people.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills to convey technical concepts to business and technical personnel.
- Experience working under stressful working conditions.
- Project Management skills.
- Solid computer skills using MS Office software.
- Mechanical trouble shooting skills.
Skills
- Knowledge of rotating machinery operation and controls systems.
- Knowledge of machinery protection and management systems.
- Knowledge of or experience with mechanical vibration, rotating machinery vibration and/or diagnostics, rotodynamic analysis, PdM data acquisition/evaluation, machinery balancing and alignment.
- Basic familiarity with computer network systems.
