About the role
The Machinery and Equipment Specialties department seeks a field engineer to provide machinery and equipment boiler inspections in our Northern Minnesota territory. This position can be filled by a trainee or experienced field engineer and is fully remote, serving territories away from our headquarters in Fairfield, Ohio.
Responsibilities
- Maintain territory's jurisdictional boiler and pressure vessel certificate inspections efficiently and effectively
- Manage the territory for which you are responsible
- Educate agents on how to market machinery and equipment to their clients
- Serve as a professional resource to our insurance agents as they retain business and increase the value of their marketing efforts
- Provide a high level of claims service to our local independent insurance agents
Requirements
- Good time management skills

- Ability to react professionally under stressful situations to successfully resolve issues
- Ability to work independently without close supervision
- Ability to effectively interact and work well with different departments at our company
- Ability to prepare meaningful and precise reports
- Valid driver’s license
Qualifications
Field Engineer Trainees Should Also Be Equipped With
- An engineering or technically-based bachelor’s degree or other qualifying boiler and pressure vessel work experience
- Ability to work independently to accomplish initiatives
- Strong customer service skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Excellent problem-solving, negotiation, organizational and prioritization skills
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft® Office tools and related software
- Willingness to travel regularly within the territory to meet job demands
Experienced Field Engineers Should Also Be Equipped With
- Machinery and equipment experience within a property and casualty insurance company (preferred)
- Strong knowledge of machinery and equipment, equipment breakdown coverages, corresponding business lines, regulations and consensus standards (preferred)
- A bachelor’s degree applicable to the position responsibilities or related experience and training
- A national board commission or the necessary qualifications to promptly acquire it
- Strong consultative, organizational, and presentation skills
- Demonstrated pursuit of continuing education
Pay
The pay range for this position is $63,000 - $105,000 annually. Pay determination is based on the applicant’s education, experience, location, knowledge, skills, and abilities. Eligible associates may also receive an annual cash bonus and stock incentives based on company and individual performance.
