Job Duties/Responsibilities
- Mechanically troubleshoot and repair complex domestic and foreign machine tools and related equipment, performing milling, drilling, and grinding functions on cast iron and steel components.
- Install, repair, and maintain hydraulic systems, ball screws, precision bearings, and various controllers on machines in the machine shop.
- Read and interpret machine tool prints, work with tight tolerances, and perform leveling and alignment tasks.
- Understand and apply principles of lubrication, pipefitting, and tube bending.
- Operate basic tools to complete machine repair jobs.
- Communicate effectively with internal and external customers/stakeholders.
- Work independently and as part of a team, including working overtime to support production demands.
Qualifications
- Possess the ability to install, repair, and maintain hydraulic systems, ball screws, precision bearings, scraping principles, and a variety of other controllers on the machines in the machine shop.
- Thorough understanding of leveling and alignment of machines, alignment of shafts, gearing, welding, lubrication principles, pipefitting, and tube bending.
- Basic electrical skills and the ability to operate basic tools to complete the machine repair job.
- Self-starter and self-motivated individual who works well individually in a team environment.
- Skilled and experienced with preventative and predictive maintenance practices and technology.
- Experienced with ball screw repair, repair of precision spindles, and ability to do precision laser alignments on machine tools.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills with internal/external customers/stakeholders.
- Strong commitment to safety and teamwork.
