Responsibilities

  • Adhere to Safety Absolutes while performing all job functions
  • Operate a hand-held grinder to finish small part components (if applicable)
  • Load machine programs specific to product orders
  • Process material in accordance with shop drawings using designated machines
  • Troubleshoot causes of operating errors and determine possible resolutions
  • Maintain material traceability
  • Seek opportunities for improvements within the manufacturing department
  • Perform tasks according to production needs to minimize downtime
  • Determine machine maintenance needs and perform light maintenance
  • Manage time to efficiently produce quality products within designated work hours
  • Communicate information and provide feedback with co-workers, Shift Lead, Shift Supervisor, and/or Production/Operations Manager
  • Perform lean, 5S, and/or general housekeeping
  • Accountable for essential tools and equipment provided and their maintenance (if applicable)
  • Set up machines, including setting rollers to specified lengths and verifying dimensions from shop drawings (if applicable)
  • Observe operation and periodically verify conformance of machined work to process sheet, specifications, and blueprint data (if applicable)
  • Inspect aluminum shafts and evaluate condition (if applicable)
  • Remove dents, grind, and router as needed (if applicable)
  • Prepare finished shafts for protection in shipment as directed by work instruction (if applicable)
  • Bend trapezoids into pole shafts and inspect to ensure bend accuracy (if applicable)
  • Program and operate PLC-controlled leveling and shearing machines (if applicable)
  • Load steel via the coil cart and unband steel coil to feed through the cut-to-length machine (if applicable)
  • Use overhead crane to load/move/unload material or machinery (if applicable)
  • Use forklift to load/move/unload material or machinery (if applicable)
  • Use a conveyor to load/move/unload material or machinery (if applicable)
  • Other duties as required and/or assigned

Requirements

  • Acceptable attendance and prior employment record
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of experience working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Ability to operate forklifts and acquire forklift certification (if applicable)
  • Ability to operate overhead cranes and acquire overhead crane certification (if applicable)
  • Strong hands-on working knowledge operating machines
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints/shop drawings
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow work instructions
  • Ability to read a tape measure to within 1/32”
  • Ability to read Outside Diameter (OD) tape measure (if applicable)
  • Ability to calculate simple mathematics, including fractions and fraction-to-decimal conversions (if applicable)
  • Ability to recognize and solve practical problems or issues (if applicable)
  • Ability to work in a team environment with a diverse group of people
  • Ability to meet production, safety, and quality standards in a high-paced working environment
  • Ability to physically lift, push, or pull a maximum of 50 pounds
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to adapt and professionally communicate with a variety of people
  • High awareness for safety at all times
  • Wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in the production facility
  • Maintain a safe and productive working environment
  • Passion and integrity with the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results

Qualifications

Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Five (5) or more years of previous experience operating machines in a heavy/fast-paced manufacturing environment (e.g., Burner, Cable Swedge, Cincinatti, Drill, Ficep, Lathe Press, Press Brake, Saw, Slitter/Decoiler, Straightener, Stretcher, Tapering, Truss Rod, and material handling equipment)
  • Strong mechanical knowledge
  • Ability to communicate and interact with coworkers in a positive manner
