Machine Shop Industrial Support & AI Integration Engineer
About the role
The Machine Shop Industrial Support & AI Integration Engineer will provide technical support for a three-shift machine shop and lead the development and implementation of AI enabled manufacturing capabilities.
Responsibilities
- Define data requirements, select sensors and connectivity solutions, establish data architecture and governance
- Deploy practical AI tools to enhance safety, quality, and throughput
- Support both legacy manual and modern CNC equipment
- Analyze and interpret manufacturing data using tools such as Excel (advanced functions, Power Query), Minitab, or similar statistical software
- Apply statistical methods (SPC, capability studies, regressions, DOEs, etc.) to identify trends, variation, and root causes
- Turn raw machine and process data into clear insights, visualizations, and recommendations - utilizing skills to build reports, dashboards, and presentations that communicate findings to multiple audiences
Requirements
- Possess a Bachelor's degree in Engineering (mechanical, industrial, electrical, computer, or related)
- Strong analytical skills; ability to analyze and interpret manufacturing data using tools such as Excel (advanced functions, Power Query), Minitab, or similar statistical software
- Ability to apply statistical methods (SPC, capability studies, regressions, DOEs, etc.) to identify trends, variation, and root causes
- Able to turn raw machine and process data into clear insights, visualizations, and recommendations - utilizing skills to build reports, dashboards, and presentations that communicate findings to multiple audiences
- U.S. citizen
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) clearance
Qualifications
- Preferred qualifications include Lean/Six sigma experience, familiarity with industrial data stacks, and background in AI manufacturing (predictive maintenance, SPC/anomaly detection, computer vision, scheduling optimization, etc.)

Pay
The base salary range for this position in Virginia (US-VA) at the start of employment is expected to be between $65,000 and $103,000 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors, and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations.
Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment.
If hired, the selected job candidate will be employed 'at-will,’ unless employed at a location and in a position subject to a collective bargaining agreement. The company further reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment, compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and other market factors.
