About the role
Eaton’s ES AMER ARS PDCAD division is currently seeking a Machine Operator Technician II, Fabrication, 1st Shift. The hourly rate for this position is $20.00 per hour. The core hours are Monday through Thursday from 5:00 am until 3:00 pm. This position is also eligible for a variable incentive plan.
Responsibilities
- Manufacture parts from steel, aluminum, and cast metals in accordance with blueprint specifications.
- Collaborate effectively with team members to complete assigned tasks while meeting safety, quality, and productivity standards.
- Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and engaged work environment by following all company policies, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), safe equipment operation, and participation in 5S practices.
- Interpret travel documents, blueprints, and verbal or written instructions to set up, operate, and perform routine maintenance on machinery such as shear machines, Finn Power, Prima, horizontal press brakes/benders, and Trumpf lasers.
- Maintain expected production progress within your assigned area and communicate any concerns in a timely manner.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and conduct root cause analysis to address quality or production issues.
- Ensure product quality by measuring finished parts using tools such as tape measures and calipers, performing visual inspections, identifying nonconforming parts, and troubleshooting errors.
- Support team flexibility by cross-training and filling in for other roles or job functions as needed.
- Monitor machine performance, troubleshoot operational issues, and ensure proper functionality.
- Prepare machines for daily operation, including setup verification and completion of safety checks.
- Inspect finished products for defects and confirm compliance with quality standards.
- Communicate equipment issues and improvement suggestions to supervisors or team leads.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent from an accredited institution.
- Previous experience as a machine operator or completion of a machining certificate program.
- Hands-on experience in sheet metal fabrication, including the use of standard punching and bending tools and processes.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, manufacturing drawings, diagrams, and operating instructions.
- Proficiency in using measuring tools such as tape measures and calipers.
- Familiarity with Eaton systems, including DMM and AS-400.
Position Criteria
- Willing to work flexible hours and overtime in support of business needs.
- Utilize various hand and power tools, step ladder and crane to assemble and verify quality in a Lean environment.
- Able to use standard computer programs such as Microsoft Outlook/Teams and job specific programs such as ENOVIA.
Physical Demands
- Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, reach at or above shoulder level, grip, and use hands for handling and material manipulation.
- Frequently required to stoop, lift, carry, push, and pull.
- Able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs., and push/pull 50 lbs. or more.
- May be required to operate material‑handling equipment, including powered industrial vehicles.
- Must meet vision requirements, including near and far vision, depth perception, and color discrimination.
