Machine Operator - Sortation

About the role

As a Machine Operator – Sortation you'll be part of our team located in Stanfield, NC. You'll set up machine bowls, tracks, lasers, eddy current, cameras, and feed systems to sort assemblies to print parameters. You will perform dimensional and visual inspections using blueprints, product data inspection sheets, various measurement devices, overlays, or special gauging of all characteristics of the part to determine inspection parameters for setup. You will recognize setup, machine, or feed problems and correct them with computer or mechanical adjustments. Additional duties include weighing, labeling, and tabulating cartons of sorted product for shipping, maintaining housekeeping standards, and performing routine preventative maintenance as specified for the equipment.

Responsibilities

• Set up machine bowls, tracks, lasers, eddy current, cameras, and feed systems to sort assemblies to print parameters.
• Perform dimensional and visual inspection using blueprints, product data inspection sheets, various measurement devices, overlays, or special gauging of all characteristics of the part.
• Recognize setup, machine, or feed problems and make necessary computer or mechanical adjustments.
• Weigh, table, and label cartons of sorted product for shipping.
• Maintain effective communication and prioritize work with moderate supervision.
• Maintain housekeeping standards to ensure a clean and orderly work area.
• Perform routine preventative maintenance as specified for the equipment.
• Work overtime as needed.
• Perform any other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• General mechanical knowledge and ability.
• Ability to drive and operate a forklift and overhead cranes.
• Read and understand blueprints, basic mathematical understanding (add, subtract, divide units of measurement).
• Common sense understanding to carry out work instructions.
• Good communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to write simple sentences to provide information.
• Basic computer knowledge and ability to find information and enter data.
• Analytical skills necessary to evaluate and solve die and press problems to run quality parts.

Qualifications

• Ability to walk, stand, bend, push, pull, and reach for an 8-hour shift.
• Occasional bending, reaching, and climbing.
• Use of eyes for visual inspection of parts.
• Ability to lift and/or carry 5-40 pounds regularly and occasionally 41+ pounds with assistance.
