About the role
The Machine Operator II position involves setting up and operating metal fabrication machines to meet quality and quantity standards. This role may also involve training other employees on department operations.
Responsibilities
- Reviews shop operations packets and engineering drawings to ensure incoming material is correct.
- Selects and sets up tools, equipment, and machines based on production specifications and Group Lead instructions to optimize workflow.
- Inspects and checks production output to ensure it meets requirements, making necessary adjustments as needed.
- Informs supervisors of any issues affecting quality or quantity production.
- Maintains and performs routine checks on departmental tools and equipment, including sharpening tools, oiling machines, and ensuring safety features are functioning properly.
- Segregates and disposes of scrap material into approved containers.
- Operates material handling equipment during the movement of materials within the work cell.
- Lifts and moves up to 75 lbs., stands, walks, bends, crouches, squats, kneels, reaches, and climbs as required.
- Trains others in job functions as required.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications / Job Specifications
- Five years of previous experience in a sheet metal fabrication facility and familiarity with metric blueprint dimensioning preferred.
- Ability to read and write to comply with written instructions and complete job-related paperwork.
