Machine Operator (Kansas Rd Location)
About the role
This position is responsible for performing product inspections to determine conformance with specifications and packaging these products according to customer requirements. Essential Duties/Responsibilities include ensuring safety procedures are followed, understanding the product line, performing production verifications, conducting visual inspections, utilizing data acquisition software, inspecting parts, assisting in maintaining inventory, checking glue levels, properly packaging and handling production, accurately recording scrap, and assisting in machine startups and shutdowns.
Responsibilities
- Ensure safety procedures are followed at all times and immediately report unsafe working conditions or mechanical safety problems to the Shift Supervisor.
- Understand the product line. Know the function of the product and any potential product defects that can adversely affect the function or application of the product.
- Perform production verifications at the start of an order and each shift.
- Perform the required visual inspections at the beginning of each shift and at the interval specified in the data acquisition software.
- Immediately notify the Manufacturing Coordinator if any defects are found.
- Utilize the data acquisition software to determine which gauging (if necessary) must be performed during the production run to ensure quality standards are met.
- Keep accurate documentation in the data acquisition software during the production run.
- Inspect parts on the conveyor belts and in product containers throughout the shift; perform liner inspections as required.
- Absolutely assist the Material Technician in keeping the WIP hoppers supplied with parts.
- If applicable, periodically check the glue tank level to ensure a proper supply of glue is available to the machine.
- Properly package and handle the production per the assigned manufacturing specification.
- Accurately record scrap and place the scrap in the proper containers.
- Absolutely assist in the performance of machine startups and shutdowns and line clearances to keep machine downtime to a minimum.
- Keep the workstation clean and neat at all times by utilizing good housekeeping practices.
- Follow applicable Food Safety and cGMP policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and interpersonal communication skills (written and oral).
- Ability to work under direct supervision and follow written instructions and techniques.
- Basic computer skills.
