About the role

The Machine Operator reports to the Production Supervisor and performs repetitive production and packing operations to mass process products such as plastic bottles.

Responsibilities

  • Works from a production schedule located within the work area
  • Randomly checks product produced every hour, to ensure the customer specifications are met
  • Maintains product flow by monitoring the flow of product into processing machinery
  • Tends machines such as palletizers, case packers, injection machines and box machines to maintain product flow
  • Works at different work stations as production needs require
  • Checks finished product for possible defects
  • Wears all required personal protective equipment
  • Maintains a safe work environment and follows safe work practices
  • Maintains housekeeping of work areas
  • Maintains compliance with HACCP, GMP and Product Safety rules and guidelines
  • Trains current and new members of the department to perform job related tasks as needed
  • Learns new on the job skills as training opportunities become available
  • Performs other tasks as assigned
  • Attends monthly shift meetings at 6am for day shift or 6pm for night shift

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree
  • At least one year manufacturing related experience and/or training or equivalent combination

Skills

  • Manipulate product with both hands, above and below shoulder height
  • Stand for a minimum of twelve (12) hours
  • Lift and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds
  • Ascend and descend stairs and ladders
  • Perform repetitive motion with a pallet jack and push/pull up to seven hundred (700) pounds throughout the day (12 hour shift)
  • Close visual inspection of product
  • Work in temperatures of one hundred plus degrees during summer season and fifty degrees during winter season
